The Thomas Tribe of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony hosted a public Bible examination focused exclusively on the Book of Revelation at the Global Hotel in Kampala, Uganda. The event drew 200 participants, comprising an equal split of 100 Shincheonji Church members and 100 local pastors, who completed a comprehensive 100-question test over two hours.
According to church representatives, the examination was not intended as a competitive event but rather as a means to distinguish orthodox biblical interpretation from heretical teachings. This approach aligns with the philosophy of Shincheonji Church Chairman Lee Man-hee, who has consistently emphasized that the Book of Revelation should serve as the fundamental standard for Christian faith. The church cites Revelation 22:18–19 as biblical justification for such testing, viewing it as essential for discerning true doctrine from false teachings.
Participant feedback revealed significant differences in biblical understanding between Shincheonji members and local pastors. One pastor acknowledged, "I've always considered Revelation to be a compass for faith, but I'm ashamed that I never properly learned it. I'll study again to better understand prophecy and fulfillment." In contrast, a Shincheonji member observed that many pastors struggled to answer questions according to scripture, while ordinary Shincheonji believers demonstrated comprehensive understanding of Revelation's content.
The event yielded immediate organizational impact, with seven churches signing memorandums of understanding to collaborate with the Shincheonji Uganda Church following the examination. The church also reported that several denominations have recently decided to officially affiliate themselves with Shincheonji Church, indicating growing institutional acceptance. A church representative emphasized that "knowing the reality of Revelation is the first step to leading believers in truth," expressing hope that more pastors would engage in deeper scriptural study.
The Shincheonji Uganda Church has experienced remarkable growth since its establishment in 2015 with just 27 members. Current membership exceeds 8,400 individuals, representing exponential expansion over the past decade.
