SMT Scharf AG, a leading provider of transport solutions for underground mining, is advancing its Strategy 2026 through new exclusive partnerships that expand its geographic reach and product portfolio. The company has entered into an exclusive agreement with CFH Group, a global provider of air technology and environmental solutions, covering the markets of South Africa and Kazakhstan.
Under this agreement, CFH Group will serve as the exclusive dealer for all SMT Scharf Group products in Kazakhstan through its local entity, CFT Kazakhstan T.O.O. Conversely, SMT Scharf will act as the exclusive dealer for all CFH Group products in South Africa via its subsidiary SMT Scharf Africa (Pty.) Ltd. This reciprocal arrangement aims to strengthen local market presence and leverage synergies between the two companies' product offerings.
This strategic move represents a significant step in SMT Scharf's ongoing efforts to realign its global business activities in underground mining and tunneling. The company's Strategy 2026 focuses on optimizing global supply chain efficiency, integrating group locations, and diversifying the product portfolio to meet increasing demand for low-emission transport solutions. The partnership with CFH Group specifically addresses the expansion into what SMT Scharf identifies as relevant mining markets worldwide.
Longjiao Wang, CEO of SMT Scharf AG, explained the strategic importance of this development: "The exclusive cooperation now established with CFH Group for the Kazakh and South African market represents an important step in driving our expansion into relevant mining markets worldwide." Wang emphasized that the Strategy 2026 aims to better serve demand for low-emission, high-quality transport solutions in underground mining and tunnel logistics.
The company's strategic expansion occurs alongside ongoing product diversification efforts. SMT Scharf has been developing light electric vehicles and battery-powered monorails as part of its focus on electromobility. The company has also established cooperation with two Chinese suppliers in the field of light electric vehicles, strengthening its portfolio development in response to customer demand for sustainable mining equipment.
While expanding into new markets, SMT Scharf continues to maintain its focus on existing key markets such as China and Poland, which remain central to its operations. The company also continues to explore opportunities for expansion into additional markets in the future as part of its long-term growth strategy.
The SMT Scharf Group develops, manufactures and services transportation equipment for underground mining and tunnel construction, including captivated railway systems, chairlifts, and rubber-tyred diesel and electric vehicles. The company operates subsidiaries in seven countries and has agents worldwide. Further information about the SMT Scharf Group can be found online at https://www.smtscharf.com.
