Sonoma County Tool Library Estate Sale to Fund Modernization and Community Access

The Sonoma County Tool Library, a nonprofit that allows residents to borrow tools instead of buying them, is hosting a community estate sale on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 595 Hwy 116 N in Sebastopol. The event is part of a broader modernization and outreach initiative aimed at strengthening the library's role as a practical resource for home repair, gardening, and fire-wise maintenance across Sonoma County.

Martin Reed, a West Sonoma County real estate agent with eXp Realty and Executive Director of the Tool Library, is leading efforts to improve the organization's infrastructure, recruit volunteers and donors, and raise public awareness. The modernization includes a rebuilt public website at borrowtools.org, a migrated membership and lending system with 2,858 borrower records, and a developing partnership with the Sonoma County Library.

For homeowners, renters, gardeners, and DIY enthusiasts, the Tool Library offers an affordable alternative to purchasing tools for single-use projects, promoting both cost savings and sustainability. The estate sale provides a direct way for the community to support these efforts, with all proceeds going toward keeping tools available to residents in Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Graton, Forestville, and the broader West County.

"The Tool Library is a practical, neighbor-to-neighbor resource," Reed said. "It helps people take care of their homes, gardens, repairs, and projects without having to buy every tool themselves. This Saturday's estate sale gives the community a simple way to pitch in, and every dollar goes back into keeping tools available to Sonoma County residents who need them."

The June 13 event is expected to draw residents interested in supporting the nonprofit while participating in a local community gathering in Sebastopol. Sale hours and additional details will be announced by the Sonoma County Tool Library. The organization is also actively recruiting board members, volunteers, and donors as it strengthens its role as a community resource for home repair, property upkeep, fire-wise maintenance, and sustainability.

Residents interested in borrowing tools, supporting the organization, volunteering, donating, or learning more about the nonprofit's modernization work can visit borrowtools.org. The Tool Library is located at 427 Mendocino Ave inside coLAB in Santa Rosa, serving residents across Sonoma County.
