Stell Engineering Secures $5.8M Space RCO Contract for Advanced Systems Integration Software

Stell Engineering, Inc. has been awarded a $5.8 million SBIR Phase III contract with the Space Rapid Capabilities Office to enhance and deploy the company's advanced systems integration software. The 24-month contract will fund Space RCO-tailored enhancements to Stell's core software platform and establish a multi-layered secure deployment infrastructure.

The contract represents a significant advancement in military space capabilities, enabling faster development and integration of complex space systems at a time when space has become an increasingly contested domain. This partnership will accelerate Stell's software feature development while improving Space RCO's system requirements management capabilities, specifically tailoring the software for rapid delivery of space systems.

The enhanced software platform will help integrate complex system-of-systems comprising hardware, software and firmware interfaces for Space RCO's evolving missions. A critical component of the contract involves building on Stell's existing cybersecurity infrastructure work at the Controlled Unclassified Information level, including establishing one-way connections into high-side environments for enhanced security.

This contract award builds upon Stell's previous success with an AFWERX Direct to Phase II Small Business Innovation Research contract awarded in February 2024, which served Space Systems Command's Assured Access to Space and Space Systems Integration Office programs. The company has collaborated with team members at Space Systems Command, AFWERX, SpaceWERX, COMSO, and supporting SSC Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance contractors including ManTech and Alpha Omega Group, LLC to advance the Phase II innovation effort.

The strategic importance of this contract lies in its potential to provide Department of Defense engineers and supporting contractors with advanced software tools for managing mission requirements, interfaces, testing, and compliance workflows. This capability enables U.S. teams to develop, test, and field advanced hardware and systems more rapidly than potential adversaries, maintaining technological superiority in space operations.

Stell's mission focuses on ensuring United States capability dominance by driving unmatched speed and technical execution in engineering complex systems. The partnership with Space RCO represents a critical step in realizing this vision by positioning Stell's engineering team alongside a Department of Defense organization actively fielding novel hardware technologies in the increasingly contested space domain.

The company's software platform is already utilized by satellite companies, ship builders, and battery manufacturers to ensure products meet customer, interface, regulatory, and functional requirements. Department of Defense organizations such as Space Systems Command currently use Stell to develop and maintain interface specifications for faster procurement and integration of new launch vehicles, spacecraft, and payloads.
