Stonegate Capital Partners has reaffirmed its coverage of Cassiar Gold Corp. (TSXV: GLDC), underscoring the company's progress at its flagship Taurus project and across its broader Cassiar Gold Property. The update, issued on October 1, 2026, points to several recent developments that collectively de-risk the project while maintaining significant exploration upside. For investors, the news matters because it signals a clearer path toward project definition and potential economic viability at a time when gold prices remain elevated and demand for new sources of production is strong.
Central to the update is Cassiar's engagement of Ausenco to complete a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) for Taurus, which is expected in the second half of 2026. According to Stonegate, the PEA is the most important near-term milestone, as it should provide the first meaningful framework for evaluating processing methods, mine scale, capital requirements, operating costs, and overall project economics. The study will build on the current mineral resource estimate at Taurus, which stands at 410,000 ounces indicated and 1.93 million ounces inferred, all near surface. That resource base, combined with the pending PEA, could position Cassiar as a potential mid-tier gold developer.
In parallel, Cassiar has launched a fully funded 10,000-meter drill program for 2026. As of September 17, approximately 7,400 meters across 31 holes had been completed at Cassiar North. The company also extended its exploration permit through March 2031 and entered into an Exploration Agreement with the Dease River First Nation, a move that strengthens social license and regulatory certainty. These steps, along with warrant exercises and a C$5.53 million financing in May, have improved the company's balance sheet and project framework.
Stonegate notes that the current mineral resource estimate excludes 7,308 meters drilled during 2025 and the ongoing 2026 campaign. As a result, pending assay results and future resource updates are viewed as important catalysts that could expand the resource and enhance the project's scale. The strategy balances technical de-risking at Taurus with continued resource growth and higher-grade opportunities across Cassiar South and regional targets. For the broader mining industry, Cassiar's ability to advance a district-scale project in a tier-one jurisdiction like British Columbia could signal renewed interest in near-surface gold deposits that can be developed with lower capital intensity.
