Teck Resources Limited has renewed its commitment to alpine ski racing in British Columbia, extending a partnership with BC Alpine Ski Association that will support youth athletic development and community engagement through 2030–2031.
The continued sponsorship builds on a 16-year relationship that has been instrumental in supporting young athletes aged 11 to 16 across the province. With support for 32 ski clubs and over 6,700 members, the partnership enables approximately 50 ski race events annually between December and April.
BC Alpine CEO Anders Hestdalen emphasized the significance of sustained programming, noting that consistent support has been crucial in developing athletes who have gone on to achieve success at World Championships and the Olympic Games. The partnership represents more than financial backing, embodying a deep commitment to community development through youth sports.
Carleigh Whitman from Teck highlighted the company's commitment to supporting active lifestyles and youth engagement, recognizing skiing as a quintessential British Columbian experience. Many Teck employees are personally invested in the program, either as volunteers or parents of participants.
The ongoing sponsorship underscores the critical role of corporate partnerships in supporting grassroots athletic programs. By investing in youth sports infrastructure, Teck Resources is helping to cultivate athletic talent, promote physical activity, and strengthen community connections across British Columbia.
This multi-year commitment ensures continued opportunities for young skiers to develop skills, compete, and potentially pursue high-performance athletic careers while fostering a lifelong love of skiing.
