The Texas Advocacy Project (TAP) will host its annual Black & White Ball on September 20th at the JW Marriott Austin, presented by DaBella. This black-tie gala serves as a crucial fundraising event supporting TAP's mission to eradicate dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, stalking, and human trafficking across Texas.
The event gains significance as TAP celebrates over 40 years of providing free legal and social services to survivors of power-based abuse. This year's gala will feature the presentation of the annual Courage Award, recognizing a former TAP client who exemplifies the remarkable bravery displayed by survivors seeking justice and freedom from abusive situations.
One of TAP's long-standing partners, Cowboy Auctioneer, has supported the Black & White Ball for nearly a decade. Heath Hale, Founder & President of Cowboy Auctioneer, emphasized the importance of their partnership, stating that his team is motivated by a passion for making an impact through missions as life-changing as TAP's work.
The dedication of TAP's staff, board members, volunteers, and donors has been instrumental in the event's success and growth over the years. These collective efforts have raised awareness, instigated change, and provided critical support to survivors in need throughout Texas. This event matters because domestic violence and related abuses remain pervasive issues affecting countless Texas families. The funds raised directly support free legal services that empower survivors to break cycles of abuse, obtain protective orders, and secure their safety. The Black & White Ball represents a community response to a critical public health and safety issue, demonstrating how collective action can provide tangible support to those most vulnerable.
The impact extends beyond individual survivors to the broader community, as reducing domestic violence contributes to safer neighborhoods, reduced healthcare costs, and stronger family structures. Events like this highlight the ongoing need for support services and the importance of community partnerships in addressing complex social issues.
