The Storm Windows Release Live Single 'FIONA' Ahead of August Album

Paper Garden Records recording artists The Storm Windows have released the first single from their forthcoming live album: 'FIONA,' a song about lost love and the highway to contemplate it. The track was recorded live before an enthusiastic sold-out audience at Tank Studio in Burlington, Vermont, on November 1, 2025. Performing on the recording are The Storm Windows Trio: Rob Mathews on guitar and vocals, Don Mathews on upright bass and vocals, and Erik Anderson on drums.

The single is being released on the PGRoots label of Paper Garden Records and will be followed by the release of a full album, including on vinyl for those who catch a live show this summer. The full live album is scheduled for release on August 21. Audio for the track was produced and mixed by Ben Collett and Julia Rangel at Tank Recording Studios, with the video by Drew Fahle.

This release marks the band's first on the PGRoots label and signals a new chapter for the veteran musicians. The Storm Windows, who take their name from a John Prine song title, describe themselves as 'veteran musicians who have weathered a few storms but are still standing and singing about it.' Critics have labeled their music 'New Americana – a blend of folk, rock and even jazz laced sonics.'

As of today, links to the single are available on various social media platforms. Fans can view the video on YouTube and stream the track on Spotify. For upcoming tour dates, visit thestormwindows.com.

The release of 'FIONA' is important not only for fans of The Storm Windows but also for the broader music industry, as it showcases the enduring appeal of live recordings and the continued relevance of Americana music. The single's emotional depth and high-quality production highlight the band's maturity and skill, offering a poignant listening experience. For the industry, it demonstrates how independent labels like Paper Garden Records are fostering authentic, live-music experiences in an era dominated by studio-produced tracks.

With the full album due in August, this single serves as a promising preview. The Storm Windows continue to prove that live music, with its raw energy and emotional immediacy, remains a powerful force in the digital age.
