Tijuana Flats Brings Back Cheeseburger Tacos, Adds Two New Items to Menu

Tijuana Flats is bringing back its Cheeseburger Tacos after nearly a decade of customer requests, and adding two new items to the cheeseburger lineup. The fast-casual Mexican chain announced that starting Sept. 28, all three cheeseburger offerings will be available at its locations across Florida, Alabama, North Carolina and Kentucky.

The return of the Cheeseburger Tacos comes after years of persistent appeals from customers, franchisees and members of the brand's loyalty program, known as Flatheads. "Our flatheads and our franchisees never stopped asking for Cheeseburger Tacos, and as we move forward on our Bigger.Better.Bolder brand journey, we knew we had to listen to them and bring it back," said James O'Reilly, CEO of Latitude Food Group, parent company of Tijuana Flats. "When we heard how high the demand was, we realized we had something special. So now we have brought the Cheeseburger Tacos back, and we created two new ways to experience that cheeseburger flavor."

The three new menu items are designed to deliver the classic cheeseburger experience without a bun. The Cheeseburger Tacos ($10.99) feature two grilled flour tortillas filled with seasoned ground beef, queso, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard, and are served with a side of fries. The Cheeseburger Burrito ($11.99) wraps the same ingredients, plus seasoned fries, inside a warm flour tortilla that is toasted until golden, with additional fries on the side. The Cheeseburger Loaded Fries ($9.99) top crispy fries with all the cheeseburger fixings.

The launch is part of Tijuana Flats' broader brand evolution under Latitude Food Group, which was newly formed to steward the chain. The company operates nearly 100 company-owned and franchised restaurants, having been founded in 1995 in Winter Park, Florida. The reintroduction of the Cheeseburger Tacos and the expansion of the cheeseburger category signal that the brand is leaning into fan feedback to drive its menu strategy.

Guests can order the new items for dine-in, carryout or online at Tijuana Flats. The company also encourages customers to join its Flathead Rewards program, where members earn one point for every dollar spent, redeemable for exclusive rewards and deals, plus access to bonus point opportunities and instant rewards upon signing up. The rewards app can be downloaded via https://qrco.de/bbUMoR.

For the restaurant industry, Tijuana Flats' move highlights how customer loyalty programs and franchisee feedback can directly influence menu innovation. By reviving a highly requested product and expanding it into new formats, the chain aims to strengthen customer engagement and drive traffic. The success of the cheeseburger lineup could also serve as a case study for other fast-casual brands looking to balance nostalgia with novelty in a competitive market.
