Total Wireless Expands Partnership with Western Union to Offer Financial Services in Retail Stores Nationwide

Total Wireless has announced an expanded partnership with Western Union, bringing a suite of financial services to its retail locations across the United States. The services, which include money transfers, bill pay, and money orders, began rolling out in select stores today and will expand to additional locations through the end of 2026. This move aims to provide communities with greater access to everyday financial services, particularly in areas where such services may be limited.

Eligible Total Wireless customers on MAX 5G BYO, MAX 5G, and ALL ACCESS plans will continue to receive one fee-free Western Union money transfer each month, a benefit that can be redeemed through Western Union's website, mobile app, or participating Total Wireless stores. This benefit was first introduced in June, making Total Wireless the first U.S. wireless carrier to offer monthly money transfers at no additional cost, underscoring the brand's commitment to delivering value beyond connectivity.

David Kim, President of Verizon Value, emphasized the community-centric nature of the partnership. "Our stores are gathering places in the communities we serve," Kim said. "By adding Western Union to the retail experience, we're expanding access to everyday financial services for everyone. Whether customers need to send money, pay bills, or purchase money orders, they can now do it at Total Wireless, right alongside getting the reliable 5G connectivity they count on. That's what it means to put community first."

The expansion is significant because it leverages Total Wireless's extensive retail footprint—2,000 exclusive stores across the country—to offer financial services to a broader audience. For customers who may not have easy access to traditional banking or financial institutions, this partnership provides a convenient option to manage essential financial tasks. Additionally, the global reach of Western Union, with services available in over 200 countries and territories and a network of more than 360,000 payout locations, ensures that customers can send money internationally with confidence.

Jesse Mory, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Western Union, highlighted the importance of meeting customers where they already shop. "Millions of customers rely on Western Union to move money across borders with speed and confidence," Mory said. "By bringing our services to Total Wireless stores, we're meeting more customers where they already shop and expanding access to reliable, convenient financial services. This partnership strengthens our presence in communities where our customers live and work."

The services are available to all customers at standard Western Union rates, with no requirement to be a Total Wireless plan subscriber. However, the fee-free monthly transfer is a perk for eligible plan customers. This partnership could have a significant impact on underbanked communities, offering a familiar and accessible location for financial transactions. It also represents a trend of non-traditional retailers expanding into financial services, potentially increasing competition and convenience in the market.

For more information, customers can visit a local Total Wireless store or access details online at Total Wireless Western Union page. The fee-free transfer benefit applies to the Western Union transfer fee only, with exchange rates and applicable taxes/surcharges applying. Money transfers, bill pay, and money order services are available at standard rates.
