Trailbreaker Resources Ltd. (TBK.V) has commenced its maiden drill program at the Swan Zone on its 100%-owned Atsutla Gold Project in northwestern British Columbia, after completing drilling at the Highlands Zone. The company announced on July 27, 2026, that the drill rig has moved to the Swan Zone, a copper-gold-silver porphyry target located 26 kilometers from the Highlands Zone. The Highlands Zone drilling targeted high-grade vein-hosted gold, silver, and copper, while the Swan Zone will test a porphyry system hosted in the Cretaceous Glundebery batholith.
The Swan Zone is defined by a 1.5 km by 1.5 km multi-element soil geochemical anomaly in gold, copper, silver, arsenic, molybdenum, antimony, and bismuth. Rock grab samples from the zone have graded up to 11.7 g/t gold, 212 g/t silver, and 0.81% copper. The geochemical anomaly coincides with a 2.1 km by 1.4 km donut-shaped chargeability high from a 2024 induced polarization survey and a zone of elevated potassium marked by a magnetic low signature from airborne surveys. Although limited historic drilling occurred in an adjacent valley, the Swan Zone itself has never been drilled. The program will test an estimated strike length of 1,000 meters to a vertical depth exceeding 400 meters, targeting surface geochemical and geophysical anomalies.
Daithi Mac Gearailt, CEO of Trailbreaker, stated that the Swan Zone remains one of the most compelling targets in the company's portfolio, developed over five years through systematic exploration including geological mapping, soil geochemical, induced polarization, and airborne magnetic surveys. He noted that the completed Highlands Zone program was executed on schedule and within budget, anticipating similar progress at Swan.
The completed Highlands Zone drilling consisted of four holes totaling 883.40 meters, testing a strike length of 500 meters and a vertical extent of 412 meters. Details were provided in the June 29, 2026 news release.
The Atsutla Gold Project, centered on the regional Teslin-Thibert fault system, has outlined five significant gold mineralization zones since its 2020 discovery: Highlands, Christmas Creek, Snook, Willie Jack, and Swan. The project spans 300 square kilometers. In September 2026, Trailbreaker also plans to drill several copper-gold porphyry targets at the Coho property, 30 km northwest of the Mt. Milligan mine in central BC, as described in the May 25, 2026 news release.
This news is important because the Swan Zone represents a new, undrilled porphyry target in a mining-friendly jurisdiction. The systematic exploration approach, combining soil geochemistry and geophysics, could lead to the discovery of a significant copper-gold-silver deposit, adding value to Trailbreaker's portfolio and highlighting the potential of the Atsutla project. The successful drilling at Highlands, combined with the high-grade surface samples at Swan, suggests the project may host multiple deposit types across a large area, potentially impacting the mineral exploration sector in British Columbia.
