Trilogy Metals Posts Q3 Net Income and Advances Arctic Project Permitting

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) reported net income of $0.2 million for its fiscal third quarter ended Aug. 31, 2026, swinging from a net loss of $1.7 million in the same period a year earlier. The improvement was primarily driven by a mark-to-market gain on a derivative liability, according to the company’s quarterly results disseminated on behalf of Trilogy Metals Inc.

The company ended the quarter with $31.2 million in cash and $30.3 million in adjusted working capital, providing a solid financial foundation as it advances its flagship Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) in northwestern Alaska. Trilogy holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which owns 100 percent of the UKMP, a joint venture formed with South32 after the globally diversified mining company exercised its option on Dec. 19, 2019.

Investors and industry observers are closely watching the permitting timeline for the Arctic Project, a polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulfide deposit that contains copper, zinc, lead, gold and silver. The company outlined a federal and state permitting schedule that targets a Record of Decision for the Arctic Project in September 2028. That milestone would be followed by the closing of a $35.6 million strategic equity investment by the U.S. Department of War. The investment underscores growing government interest in securing domestic supplies of critical minerals, particularly copper and cobalt, which are essential for defense, renewable energy and electric vehicle technologies.

The UKMP lies within the Ambler Mining District, described as one of the richest and most-prospective known copper-dominant districts in the world. It hosts both the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit, which have shown high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization. The land package spans approximately 190,929 hectares. Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, providing a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities. Trilogy’s stated vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting and respecting subsistence livelihoods.
