TUOFA CNC Machining has unveiled a Rapid Manufacturing line specifically designed for hard-metal parts, marking a significant advancement in the machining industry. This innovation is set to drastically reduce lead times for sectors that depend on difficult-to-machine alloys, including aerospace, energy, medical, robotics, and electric vehicles. The new line emphasizes three critical areas: capacity, control, and consistency, ensuring that projects stay on schedule without compromising on the mechanical properties that these alloys are known for.
The materials that TUOFA can now machine more efficiently include titanium alloys, nickel superalloys such as Inconel 718 and Hastelloy, hardened stainless steels like 17-4 PH and 15-5 PH, tool steels including H13 and D2, and cobalt-chrome. Additionally, TUOFA offers CNC engineering plastic machining services, broadening its range of custom machining solutions.
Processes enhanced by this new line include 5-axis and multi-axis CNC milling, high-precision turning, single-setup turn-mill, wire and sinker EDM, along with hard turning and grinding for post-heat-treat finishes. This comprehensive approach ensures a seamless workflow from CAD to manufacturing, catering to a wide array of industrial needs.
Applications for TUOFA's Rapid Manufacturing line are divided into structural components, such as turbine housings and motor casings, and functional or wear components like valve seats and gears. These parts are essential in environments that demand high fatigue strength, tight GD&T, or resistance to high temperatures and abrasion.
Quality control is a cornerstone of TUOFA's new line, with capabilities including CMM, optical, and white-light scanning. The company achieves tolerances as tight as ±0.005 mm and surface finishes to Ra 0.2 µm, with full lot traceability to support regulated sectors. "Hard metals slow many projects; they can't slow ours," stated Andy, General Manager at TUOFA CNC Machining, highlighting the company's commitment to keeping schedules on track while meeting stringent mechanical requirements.
Looking ahead, TUOFA plans to invest in additional 5-axis capacity, expanded superfinish grinding, and NADCAP-aligned process controls, further solidifying its position as a leader in the machining industry. For more information on TUOFA's capabilities, visit https://www.tuofa-cncmachining.com.
