UGI Utilities, Inc. has announced a significant natural gas main replacement project scheduled to start on July 28, 2025, along Manheim Pike in Lancaster County. This initiative underscores UGI's dedication to maintaining a safe and reliable natural gas service for its customers. The project, expected to conclude by mid-September, will not only upgrade the existing infrastructure but also provide an opportunity for some residences and businesses along the route to switch to natural gas.
The construction will affect Manheim Pike between Abraso Street and Dexter Avenue, as well as Dexter Avenue between Manheim Avenue and Manheim Pike. Work hours are set from 6:00pm to 6:00am, Monday through Friday, with a shift to daytime hours (7:00am to 3:00pm) starting August 18. The community should anticipate road closures, detours, traffic delays, and parking restrictions during these times. Additionally, there will be temporary interruptions to natural gas service, necessitating UGI's access to properties for equipment inspection and relighting.
Factors such as weather and working conditions may influence the project's timeline. Following the completion of underground work, final paving and restoration efforts will be scheduled separately. UGI has extended an invitation to those interested in converting to natural gas to reach out for more information.
This project is a critical step in UGI's ongoing efforts to modernize its infrastructure, ensuring the delivery of efficient and safe natural gas services. The upgrades are vital for the community's energy needs, highlighting the importance of infrastructure investment in supporting local development and sustainability.
