UGI Utilities has announced the commencement of system upgrades in Milton starting Monday, August 4th, as part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring safe and reliable service for its customers. This project, expected to conclude by the end of September, will involve gas main replacements along Broadway Street (SR-254) from Turbot Avenue to Queen Street, impacting not only the main thoroughfare but also several side streets including Turbot Avenue, Stanton Avenue, and Queen Street among others.
The upgrades are anticipated to cause significant travel disruptions, with single lane restrictions likely delaying Milton School District buses once the school year begins. Additionally, wide load truck traffic will be restricted on the affected section of Broadway Street during the project. Construction hours are set from 7am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, with parking restrictions in place on the impacted streets during these times. Residents and businesses should also prepare for some interruptions to natural gas service, as UGI will need access to properties to inspect and relight equipment.
Beyond the immediate inconveniences, this project presents an opportunity for some homes and businesses along the route to convert to natural gas, a cleaner and often more cost-effective energy source. UGI encourages those interested in making the switch to reach out, though the company notes that weather and working conditions may affect the project's timeline. After the underground work is completed, final paving and restoration will be scheduled.

This initiative underscores UGI Utilities' dedication to modernizing infrastructure and expanding access to natural gas, reflecting broader trends in utility service enhancements and environmental sustainability efforts.
