Vanguard Mining Corp. has identified promising new exploration targets at its Redonda Copper-Molybdenum Project in British Columbia through a comprehensive airborne geophysical survey. The survey, conducted by Precision GeoSurveys, has provided critical insights into the project's geological composition and potential mineral deposits.
The geophysical data reveals that approximately 90% of the 2,746.46-hectare property remains unexplored, presenting substantial opportunities for future mineral discovery. The survey utilized advanced technologies, including a triple magnetic gradient boom system, fluxgate magnetometer, and gamma ray spectrometer, to map the subsurface geological characteristics in unprecedented detail.
Notably, the survey identified several high-priority exploration targets, including areas with potassic alteration zones that are typically associated with copper-molybdenum porphyry mineralization. The company has already secured drill permits for ten sites along a 5.3 km corridor defined by the airborne survey results.
The timing of this exploration effort is particularly significant, given the current market conditions for copper and gold. As of March 2025, copper prices have reached $4.93 per pound, and gold has surpassed $3,000 per ounce, underscoring the strategic importance of domestic mineral exploration.
Previous drilling at the site has already demonstrated promising results, with one drill section revealing 142.6 meters containing 0.279% copper and 0.0281% molybdenum. The new geophysical data suggests additional mineralization potential, particularly in areas with specific magnetic and radiometric signatures.
The project's location in British Columbia's Vancouver Mining Division offers logistical advantages, with year-round barge access and existing logging road infrastructure. Moreover, the exploration has proceeded with support from local First Nations, including the Klahoose First Nation and ongoing consultation with the Homalco First Nation.
Vanguard plans to leverage these survey results as part of its proposed spin-out of the Redonda Project into a new entity tentatively named Blackstone Copper Corp. The comprehensive geophysical data provides a robust foundation for future exploration and potential mineral resource development.
The geological setting of the Redonda property, located in the Coast Suture Zone, shares similarities with other successful copper-molybdenum deposits in the region, including the OKover and Gambier Copper deposits. Preliminary metallurgical testing has already shown promising copper and molybdenum recovery rates, ranging from 94.7% to 96.9% for copper and 92.2% to 95.6% for molybdenum.
