Verizon is introducing new cybersecurity services and updating existing protection tools during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, responding to increasing digital threats facing consumers. The telecommunications company announced Digital Secure Home service and a major refresh of the Verizon Protect app, positioning these offerings as essential defenses against evolving cyber risks.
The 2025 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report found that exploitation of vulnerabilities as an initial access vector for breaches grew by 34% from last year, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced digital security measures. This statistical evidence underscores why these new services matter to consumers facing increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Digital Secure Home, managed through the Verizon Home app, protects devices connected to home networks from online threats. The entry tier, available at no additional cost with Fios Home Internet service, provides Vulnerability Assessments and Malicious Website Protection. Digital Secure Home Plus, priced at $5.99 monthly, adds advanced services that defend against botnet and brute force attacks, detect abnormal device behavior, and safeguard sensitive data on router-connected devices.
Che Phillip, Senior Vice President of Consumer Device Marketing at Verizon, emphasized the company's commitment to security, stating that securing customer connections sits at the heart of their promise. The proliferation of connected devices in modern homes makes Wi-Fi networks primary targets for digital threats, making these security measures increasingly critical for consumer protection.
For mobile security, Verizon Protect has undergone a significant refresh to provide customers with more insight into their online safety. The updated app includes a Security Rating feature that shows users how secure their personal data is, providing personalized insights to improve their rating. Security Categories allow users to see how they measure up across four key areas: Identity, Device, Network and Online, with recommended actions to strengthen security in each category.
During Fall Open Enrollment through November 3, customers can sign up for Verizon Mobile Protect, which offers coverage against loss, theft, damage and post-warranty malfunctions for devices. The protection includes unlimited claims, unlimited cracked screen repairs at no additional cost, 24/7 premium tech support, and same-day device delivery and setup in some cases.
These cybersecurity enhancements come as consumers face growing threats to their digital lives. The services represent Verizon's broader strategy to provide comprehensive protection beyond basic connectivity, addressing the reality that modern households contain numerous connected devices vulnerable to cyber attacks. Consumers can download the Verizon Home app from Google Play and Apple's App Store, while the Verizon Protect app is available through the company's digital platforms.
