The Islamic Circle of North America's (ICNA) outreach initiative, WhyIslam Dallas, is leveraging prominent billboard locations to foster interfaith understanding and provide insight into Ramadan's spiritual significance. The campaign aims to bridge cultural gaps by inviting community members to learn about Islamic traditions and practices.
Strategically positioned billboards along Highway 190 and LBJ Freeway will display messages encouraging public engagement and curiosity about Ramadan. The billboards feature the provocative invitation 'Fast With Us!' and direct viewers to educational resources at 1-877-WHYISLAM and www.whyislam.org.
The campaign emphasizes Ramadan as a period of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and community generosity. By highlighting the month's core values, WhyIslam seeks to counteract potential misconceptions and create opportunities for meaningful dialogue between Muslim and non-Muslim communities.
Complementing the billboard initiative, WhyIslam Dallas will host a press conference on March 3rd at the ICNA Center in Richardson, Texas. The event will formally launch the Ramadan awareness campaign and showcase the organization's commitment to humanitarian efforts.
Beyond educational outreach, the campaign connects with broader social initiatives. ICNA Relief and partner organizations are simultaneously conducting humanitarian programs, including support for refugees, toy distribution for children from displaced families, and community celebration events.
The billboard locations were carefully selected to maximize visibility. The President George Bush Turnpike billboard targets affluent residential areas, while the LBJ Freeway placement offers exposure to travelers and nearby international airport traffic, ensuring wide-reaching messaging.
By creating accessible, welcoming platforms for learning, WhyIslam Dallas hopes to promote mutual understanding, challenge stereotypes, and demonstrate Islam's commitment to community healing and spiritual growth.
