This year, the firm awarded $3,000 in scholarships to two deserving students, Jayceon Norris and Dixie Huffman, based on their insightful essays on the concept of justice and their future plans to foster societal change.
Jayceon Norris, the first-place winner, received a $2,000 scholarship. A graduate of North Pitt High School and a first-generation college student, Norris has demonstrated a profound commitment to mental health advocacy and aims to pursue a career in psychology. His essay reflected his personal experiences and his vision for a society where mental health is prioritized, showcasing his potential to make significant contributions to the field.
Dixie Huffman, awarded the second-place scholarship of $1,000, is set to attend the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, where she will major in Political Science and Philosophy. Huffman's essay articulated her passion for law and policy reform, particularly in areas affecting juvenile justice, mental health, and educational equity. Her aspirations to become an attorney and advocate for the overlooked segments of society underscore the importance of nurturing young leaders who are committed to justice.
