The Ron Sturgeon Collection has recently been enriched with the acquisition of a 1929 Ford Model A Speedster Boattail, a vehicle that epitomizes the golden age of motoring with its artful styling and mechanical charm. This custom speedster, refurbished and rebodied under prior ownership, serves as a rolling tribute to early American ingenuity, combining nostalgia with custom artistry.
Powered by a 201ci inline-four engine and a three-speed manual transmission, the car has been upgraded with a Stromberg 94 carburetor and Ansen intake manifold, among other enhancements, to deliver performance true to its era. Its eye-catching design features include red 21″ wire-spoke wheels, a boattail rear, and a classic white and green paint scheme, complemented by custom touches like a running board-mounted spotlight and burgundy bucket seats.
Ron Sturgeon, founder of the DFW Car & Toy Museum, expressed his admiration for the vehicle, stating, 'This car is an incredible example of creativity meeting craftsmanship.' The 1929 Ford Model A Speedster Boattail not only celebrates the spirit of open-road adventure but also underscores the importance of preserving automotive heritage for future generations to appreciate.
The inclusion of such a distinctive piece in the Ron Sturgeon Collection is a testament to the enduring fascination with vintage automobiles and their role in the cultural and technological evolution of the automotive industry. It serves as a reminder of the craftsmanship and innovation that defined early 20th-century motoring, offering insights into the history of automotive design and engineering.
