The 35th Education & Careers Expo, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will take place from January 22 to 25 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with free public admission. This event brings together over 860 organizations from 23 countries and regions, including government bureaus, tertiary institutions, and education centers, providing extensive information on further studies and career opportunities.
The Expo's importance lies in its alignment with Hong Kong's strategic goals to strengthen its position as an international education hub and talent center, as outlined in the 2025 Policy Address. By dividing the event into separate "Education" and "Careers" sections, it addresses both immediate employment needs and long-term educational pathways, responding to evolving market demands and social development.
A key enhancement this year is the upgraded "CV Clinic," which now includes six services: one-to-one CV consultations and professional CV portrait photography provided by recruitment platform Jobsdb; 1:1 Trainee Programme & Career Consultation and an Aptitude Test Ready Station offered by career consultancy MT20 Consulting Limited; onsite Personal Colour Analysis by clincolour; and the "16 Personality Types Magic Quiz" presented by CTgoodjobs. These services help job seekers gain deeper insights into their personal strengths and plan career paths with greater clarity.
The Expo features four themed days focusing on critical areas: Civil Servants & Public Services, Next Gen Technologies, Healthcare & Wellness, and Greater Bay Area Opportunities. Over 100 activities will include seminars and talks by industry experts, such as a themed seminar "A Date with Giants" with representatives from enterprises like J.P. Morgan and Lenovo, designed to inspire students to explore career opportunities in technology, finance, and entrepreneurship.
In the "Education" section, divided into zones including "Local Studies," "Non-Hong Kong Education," "Lifelong Learning," and "Youth Zone," institutions will showcase innovative programs. For example, the Vocational Training Council will display the SOPHIE 8x model, a winner of the World Solar Challenge, highlighting how courses nurture technology talent. The Hong Kong Institute of Construction will feature an "AI Tower Crane Simulator" using AI technology to provide immersive learning experiences, reflecting the integration of AI applications with education to meet workforce trends.
The "Careers" and "Recruitment Square" zones will host over 30 government departments and public organizations, including the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Airport Authority of Hong Kong, and various financial institutions, offering job seekers firsthand information and onsite interviews. This reflects a strong demand for young talent in public service and other sectors.
Special events include star speaker sessions, such as singer-songwriter Serrini sharing her career path, and seminars on topics like "Guide to GBA Entrepreneurship" by Calvin Tse, President of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs. These activities aim to provide comprehensive industry insights and inspire career development.
Visitors can enjoy additional features like the "Instant Career Snapshot" AI photo experience and receive complimentary souvenirs. For details and registration, they can visit the Education & Careers Expo website at https://www.hktdc.com/event/hkeducationexpo/en.
