The 3TC multi-sport facility in East Rochester has expanded its offerings by adding three indoor pickleball courts, responding to the sport's increasing popularity in the region. The courts, branded as Pickleball @3TC, are now open to the public with no membership requirement during weekday hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., closing at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. This development provides a dedicated indoor space for pickleball enthusiasts, particularly during the colder months when outdoor play is limited.
The courts feature an Omnicourt cushioned surface designed to provide consistent ball bounce, excellent traction, and shock absorption to reduce impact on players' joints. Tom Curtin, who oversees pickleball operations at 3TC, described the facility as having excellent lighting and generous court spacing. The facility will host Open Play sessions throughout the day, with specific time slots available for players to reserve.
Players can participate in Open Play sessions for a fee of $10 for two hours or $12 for three hours. Registration is managed through the Craig Demmin Soccer app, where users must create an account to reserve spots. The facility is encouraging new players by offering a free first session when they download the app, create an account, and sign a waiver. Additionally, throughout December, introductory bonuses are available: depositing $50 into an account yields $60 in Open Play credits, while a $100 deposit provides $120 in credits.
To ensure quality playing time, attendance at Open Play sessions will be capped. Two-hour sessions will be limited to 20 players, and three-hour sessions to 24 players. This approach aims to maximize value for participants by preventing overcrowding. The facility's location and details can be found on its official website at https://ROC3TC.com.
Craig Demmin, owner and operator of 3TC and a former professional soccer player with the Rochester Raging Rhinos, emphasized that the pickleball addition complements the facility's existing soccer programs. He noted that pickleball is experiencing significant growth, creating a demand for more indoor courts in Rochester. The 20,000-square-foot facility at 920 Linden Avenue continues to serve as a hub for sports training and community activities, now extending its reach to pickleball players of all skill levels.
