Education is undergoing a significant transformation through artificial intelligence (AI), largely driven by companies like Amesite (NASDAQ: AMST). The Detroit-based AI software company specializes in developing products and platforms to enhance online learning. Leveraging GPT-4, the AI system behind Bing and ChatGPT Plus, Amesite promises rapid course deployment, adaptable programs, and sustained user engagement.
This innovative approach has garnered considerable attention from educators, especially in community colleges across the United States. Recently, Amesite inked a multiyear deal with Maricopa Corporate College (MCOR), part of the Maricopa Community College District (MCCCD), Arizona’s largest workforce developer. This agreement marks the company’s most significant customer acquisition to date.
MCOR, as part of MCCCD, plays a crucial role in shaping the future workforce of the Greater Phoenix region. With approximately 140,000 students, MCCCD is second only to Arizona State University in producing college graduates in the state and contributes $7.9 billion to the economy. This exclusive deal with Amesite will bring AI-based online training and development programs to MCCCD, further solidifying Amesite’s footprint in the education sector.
According to Dr. Ann Marie Sastry, CEO of Amesite, the company’s AI-powered solution provides real-time information and support to professional learners. “We have long believed that AI-assisted professional training would replace traditional training and are pleased to see our solutions gaining acceptance, now with larger colleges,” Sastry noted.
Amesite’s V6 learning platform represents the latest iteration of its AI-driven vision, offering features like learning and creative assistants, educational games, and interactive learning experiences to keep students engaged. The platform’s ability to integrate thousands of application programming interfaces (API) means it can work seamlessly with most existing programs in educational institutions.
Beyond education, Amesite is also setting its sights on healthcare, specifically addressing the needs of the 5.2 million nurses in the U.S. In the spring, the company launched NurseMagic™, a proprietary AI app designed for nurses. The app enables nurses to instantly write nursing notes, translate medical terms, create work emails, and even coach nurses on effective patient communication and taking necessary breaks.
This move into healthcare comes at a critical time. The U.S. is facing a growing shortage of nurses, coupled with high burnout rates. Technology that eases the workload for nurses not only improves their quality of life but also offers financial benefits to healthcare systems by reducing burnout-related costs. For instance, burnout can cost hospitals $16,736 per nurse annually through retention challenges and sick days.
Sastry emphasized the potential impact of NurseMagic, stating, “We want to equip every nurse on the planet with tools that deliver immediate, qualified information and address the demands on their time while leveraging their expertise.”
Since its beta release in June, NurseMagic has seen rapid user growth, with users from all 50 U.S. states and six countries. The app’s functionalities continue to expand, now including features like resume building, job application cover letter creation, and social profile enhancements.
Accuracy is a critical element of NurseMagic, and Amesite reports that the foundational model behind the app achieved a 93% accuracy rate when tested with questions from leading NCLEX prep providers’ test banks. This level of accuracy is essential for the growing number of nurses relying on the app for their professional needs.
Amesite’s rapid expansion in user base and continuous innovation in both education and healthcare sectors demonstrate its commitment to leveraging AI for societal benefits. The company is poised to make a lasting impact by simplifying complex tasks for professionals and aiding in workforce development.
