Andrew Kalloch has been appointed as the Oregon State Co-Chair for U.S. Term Limits, a significant step in the ongoing efforts to implement term limits for congressional members. Kalloch, known for his advocacy for term limits at the federal level, aims to push for a resolution in Oregon supporting this initiative.
Kalloch, who holds a prominent role as the Director of Global Policy Development at Airbnb, expressed his readiness to take on this new responsibility. "I am honored to serve as the Oregon State Co-Chair for U.S. Term Limits," he stated. "Now more than ever before, the need for term limits is crystal clear. Polls show that one issue that unites all Oregonians regardless of political affiliation is the need for congressional term limits."
Kalloch argues that term limits are essential for improving governmental accountability and diversifying Congress. "For many, serving in Congress has become a lifelong entitlement rather than a public service," he noted. "Term limits will help improve accountability, diversify Congress, and make government work better for all Americans." He also mentioned his enthusiasm about collaborating with his Co-Chair Alek Skarlatos on this issue that resonates across the political spectrum.
Philip Blumel, President of U.S. Term Limits, supported Kalloch's appointment, stating, "We are honored to have Andrew leading our efforts in Oregon along with Alek Skarlatos to pass term limits for Congress. Under their guidance, I am confident we will get our term limits resolution passed in Oregon."
Kalloch’s background includes serving as the Deputy Policy Director to the NYC Comptroller, where he authored numerous reports on public policy issues, and working as a Staff Attorney at the ACLU of New York, focusing on constitutional litigation in state and federal courts. His extensive experience in both public and private sectors positions him well for this new role.
In addition to his professional achievements, Kalloch is actively involved in community service. He is the President of the City Club of Eugene, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of FOOD for Lane County, and a board member of All Oregon Votes, an organization that advocates for opening Oregon's primary process to unaffiliated voters. He also ran as a Democratic candidate for Oregon's 4th Congressional District in 2022.
Kalloch resides in Eugene with his spouse, Jenna Adams-Kalloch, and their three children, who are fifth-generation residents of the Southern Willamette Valley. His deep ties to the community and commitment to public service further underscore his suitability for his new role in advocating for term limits.
U.S. Term Limits, the largest grassroots term limits advocacy group in the country, aims to connect term limits supporters with legislators and to pass term limits at all levels of government, particularly for the U.S. Congress. Kalloch's appointment is a strategic move to advance this cause in Oregon.
