The ceremony, held among more than 2,000 flags honoring military members and first responders, also included a personalized quilt stitched with the veteran's name, rank, and service history.
This collaboration addresses a critical community need that emerged two years ago when a local medical lending closet closed. Stacey Eisenberg and her husband Bryan, co-owners of A Place At Home - North Austin, recognized the importance of maintaining access to essential mobility equipment for veterans, seniors, and neighbors in need. Their family-run effort connects with ShareTheWill Foundation, founded by Will Williams, a 26-year Army veteran and former Ranger who has devoted his post-service life to supporting Central Texas families.
The impact of this partnership extends far beyond individual wheelchair donations. ShareTheWill Foundation operates with no paid staff, relying entirely on hundreds of volunteers to distribute resources directly to the community. Every dollar donated goes toward programs including back-to-school backpacks, running shoes, July 4th parades, 3,500 Thanksgiving meals, and sponsoring more than 4,000 families at Christmas. The organization also supports Honor Flight Austin and the Field of Honor, which is organized by the Rotary Club of Georgetown.
Williamson County Commissioner Russ Boles emphasized the community significance, stating, "This is the heart of Williamson County. When our community comes together to lift up a veteran, it reminds us of our shared values. We don't simply say we support one another — we step forward and prove."
