Easy Environmental Solutions Inc., under the leadership of CEO Mark Gaalswyk, is taking significant steps towards ending food insecurity in Africa through its innovative agricultural technologies. The company, previously known as Digital Utilities Ventures, Inc., has developed Terreplenish, an organic microbial fertilizer created from recycled food and crop waste, designed to rejuvenate lifeless and unproductive soil. This product is capable of processing two tons of biomass per hour, introducing beneficial microbes into the soil to enhance its fertility and productivity.
Gaalswyk highlighted the potential impact of Terreplenish in regions like Africa, where the combination of insufficient fertilizer and reduced rainfall has severely limited agricultural output. He described the product as a 'game changer' that could significantly increase crop yields, akin to receiving an additional 20% rainfall. This innovation is seen as a viable solution to the widespread starvation across the continent.
Complementing Terreplenish is the Easy FEN Modular Microbe Fertilizer System, a decentralized, fully automatic 'Fertilizer Plant in a Box' that can be deployed in rural agricultural communities worldwide. The system represents a scalable solution to the global challenge of food insecurity, with Easy Environmental Solutions already securing a deposit from an African client for its deployment.
The initiative by Easy Environmental Solutions underscores the critical role of sustainable agricultural practices in addressing food insecurity. By leveraging technology to improve soil health and crop productivity, the company is contributing to the broader goals of promoting food security, sustainable agriculture, and environmental sustainability in Africa and beyond.
