Eco Expo Asia 2026, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, and co-organised by the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), will be held from 26 to 29 October at AsiaWorld-Expo. The expo, now in its 21st edition, will bring together over 340 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions, including first-time participants from Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. The event will also welcome some 200 key officials and representatives of semi-official organisations from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Belt and Road countries, and ASEAN.
HKTDC Associate Executive Director Silas Chu said the Hong Kong SAR Government's Policy Address and first Five-Year Plan set out a vision for a green and liveable city, and that green transformation has shifted from policy aspiration to market rule. He noted that global demand for ESG and green solutions continues to grow, and Eco Expo Asia will bring together green technologies, innovative solutions, and global business opportunities. The expo's international reach is expanding, with the debut of an ASEAN Pavilion featuring 13 green technology companies from eight member countries, and a new Qinghai Pavilion from the Chinese Mainland. Other new participants include the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy and the return of the US State of Illinois.
The HKTDC also released the HKTDC ESG Index 2026, which rose to 67.3 from 64.2 last year, well above the neutral threshold of 50. The survey found that 93% of respondents have integrated ESG into their overall business decision-making processes, while the share of businesses sourcing or selling ESG-related products and services rose from 29% in 2025 to 46% in 2026. Silas said the rise reflects continued strengthening of global businesses' confidence in Hong Kong's role as an ESG business hub, and that ESG has evolved beyond a compliance requirement into a source of competitive advantage. Hong Kong is well-positioned to unlock commercial opportunities across banking and finance, professional services, and innovation and technology.
This year's expo centres on four thematic areas: Green Energy in Motion, Frontier Green Tech, Building for a Greener City, and From Waste to Worth. Under Green Energy in Motion, EcoCeres Ltd. makes its debut with renewable sustainable aviation fuel made from waste materials, while the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Pavilion will showcase EV chargers and modular EV conversion technology. Frontier Green Tech will feature around 30 start-ups and university spin-offs, including Stellerus Technology Limited with its Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory, already deployed on China's Tiangong space station. Building for a Greener City will present innovations such as a modular hydropower system from Green Vigor Limited and a plastering and paint spraying robot from AEC GreenTech Innovations Limited. From Waste to Worth will assemble leading Chinese Mainland enterprises and Hong Kong-based Green AI Technology Limited, which will launch its new generation unmanned recycling station, REV.
More than 30 forums and seminars will be held during the expo, bringing together over 80 government officials, industry leaders and business representatives. The annual Eco Asia Conference will feature experts discussing technologies for monitoring extreme weather, green building development, and global climate finance trends. The final day, 29 October, will be Public Day with free admission, offering seminars and interactive workshops to encourage green lifestyles. Free shuttle bus services will connect the fair venues, major hotels and transport interchanges; details are available at https://www.hktdc.com/event/ecoexpoasia/tc/travel-to-fairground-awe.
