Finfluential Survey Names Michael Kitces, Christine Benz, and Jason Zweig as Top Financial Influencers

Finfluential, a Substack publication from Lowe Group covering innovations in financial influencers, today announced the results of its inaugural "Centers of Finfluence" survey. The survey, which polled over 60 financial professionals, asked respondents to name the three voices they follow most closely in the industry. Michael Kitces, creator of the Nerd's Eye View blog, took the top spot, while Morningstar's Christine Benz and Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Zweig tied for second place.

"Financial media is more crowded than ever with new voices constantly vying for attention, but a small number of people continue to set the terms of the conversation," said Finfluential Editor Greg Joslyn. "Our first Centers of Finfluence recognizes three individuals who've earned their influence over decades, not overnight."

Kitces has spent 18 years building his Nerd's Eye View blog into one of the industry's most-read sources of technical education for financial advisors. The blog reaches a large monthly readership and anchors a wider business centered on advisor training. Benz has spent over 30 years at Morningstar, most recently as Director of Personal Finance and Retirement Planning. She hosts The Long View, a leading retirement- and investing-focused podcast featuring top names in the field, and writes a column considered essential reading for retirement industry professionals. Zweig has held Wall Street accountable through his Wall Street Journal column, The Intelligent Investor, a mix of investigative reporting and plain-spoken warnings about fees, complexity, and market realities. His work has earned some of financial journalism's top honors.

What unites these three is staying power: each built a distinctive, consistent voice over a long career. The implications for the industry are significant. In an era of fragmented media and fleeting online fame, the survey underscores that trust and expertise remain paramount. Financial professionals and consumers alike continue to rely on voices with deep experience and a track record of accurate, insightful analysis. For advisors, these influencers shape ongoing education and client communication strategies. For investors, following such figures can help navigate complex markets and avoid pitfalls.

The recognition of Kitces, Benz, and Zweig highlights the enduring value of substantive content over viral trends. As the financial media landscape becomes more crowded, their influence serves as a benchmark for quality and reliability. Finfluential will publish its runners-up list next week, along with an analysis of which voices resonated most with different audience segments.

Finfluential is dedicated to covering what's new and innovative in the world of financial influencers. The survey results affirm that while new voices emerge, the most trusted figures are those who have consistently provided value over many years.
