First Phosphate Corp has announced the successful completion of its extensive drilling program at the Bégin-Lamarche project. The program consisted of 99 drill holes, totaling 25,929 meters, and uncovered a substantial high-quality igneous phosphate deposit. Spanning three mineralized zones, the drilling has shown continuous phosphate mineralization over a length of 2,400 meters.
Chief Geologist Gilles Laverdiere stated that a NI 43-101 resource estimate is currently underway and will be followed by a Preliminary Economic Assessment. This estimation process is crucial for the project's future development and potential profitability. Specifically, in the Mountain Zone, 23 drill holes were completed, totaling 5,023 meters, and revealed grades exceeding 10% P2O5 over widths ranging from 7 to 99 meters. The Southern Zone, with drilling at 100-meter spaced sections over a length of 1,700 meters, included 57 drill holes totaling 15,219 meters.
CEO John Passalacqua expressed the company's anticipation of completing the resource estimate in the coming months. This milestone is expected to significantly advance the project's development and provide a clearer understanding of its economic viability.
The results from the Bégin-Lamarche project mark a significant advancement in the exploration and potential exploitation of phosphate resources, which are essential for various industries, including agriculture and manufacturing. The successful identification of high-quality phosphate deposits could have far-reaching implications, from enhancing agricultural productivity to contributing to the global supply chain of critical minerals.
