Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. has made a notable advancement in its exploration efforts at the Halo zone, located near Hixon, British Columbia, after prematurely terminating a drill hole within a visible gold-bearing mineralized section. The drill hole QGQ24-21 revealed promising geological indicators of potential gold deposits, creating anticipation within the mining exploration sector.
The drilling operation successfully intersected 53 meters of continuous, strong sericite-iron carbonate altered greenstones containing an intense stockwork of quartz-carbonate veins with multiple visible gold occurrences. Technical constraints necessitated stopping the drill at a depth of 310.18 meters, with the deepest visible gold finding located just 1.8 meters from the hole's endpoint.
Geological experts noted the significance of the drill core's composition, which suggests substantial mineral potential in the region. The drill hole, initiated in December 2024 and resumed in April 2025, will have its core samples analyzed by ALS Canada Ltd. for comprehensive gold and multi-element assays in the coming days.
The Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property, spanning 94,889 hectares, is situated in a historically rich gold mining area. The region has documented over 101 placer gold creeks along a 90-kilometer trend, with active small-scale placer mining continuing since the mid-1860s. This context amplifies the potential significance of Golden Cariboo's current exploration efforts.
The company's next drilling phase will strategically target the zone up-dip and to the north of the current drill hole, aiming to further investigate the geological formations and potential gold mineralization.
