Guangzhou Offers Free One-Day Tours for International Transit Passengers

Guangzhou has unveiled an innovative initiative to boost inbound tourism by offering free one-day tours to international transit passengers starting at the end of June. This move aims to promote Guangzhou as a premier destination for global travelers and highlight the city's rich cultural heritage.

To further extend a warm welcome to international tourists, Guangzhou has released a new cultural and tourism promotional video titled "Visa Free, Feel Free" in six languages. The video, available in Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean, was showcased during the 2024 Guangzhou Aviation Hub High-quality Development Conference held on June 17-18, 2024. Themed "Open World, China's Hub," the conference emphasized Guangzhou's pivotal role in global connectivity.

As one of the cities implementing the 144-hour visa-free transit policy, Guangzhou is positioned as a top destination for foreign tourists visiting Guangdong. This policy allows travelers from over 50 countries, who hold valid international travel documents and have onward tickets to a third country within 144 hours, to enjoy visa-free transit within Guangdong Province.

The Guangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau has announced that international transit passengers at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport can register for the free one-day tour. The tour includes complimentary transportation, English-speaking guides, visits to scenic spots, and a dim sum lunch, providing a comprehensive experience of Guangzhou's hospitality and attractions within a limited timeframe.

The one-day tour itinerary is designed to showcase Guangzhou's historical and cultural landmarks. Key sites include Flower City Square, Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, the Five Rams Statue, and the Ming Dynasty City Wall in Yuexiu Park. The tour route also passes by notable attractions such as the Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou Library, Guangzhou Opera House, and Canton Tower.

This initiative is part of Guangzhou's broader strategy to attract more international visitors and enhance the city's profile as a key component of the "China travel" experience. By offering these free tours, Guangzhou aims to make its cultural narratives and historical richness accessible to a wider global audience, thereby contributing to the rapid development of China's inbound tourism sector.
