The Business Leadership Council (BLC) has named Keiana Barrett as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant milestone for the Chicago-based organization dedicated to advancing Black business leadership. Barrett brings an impressive professional background spanning political communication, diversity leadership, and civic engagement to her new role.
With over 15 years of experience in high-profile positions, Barrett has previously served in pivotal roles including National Press Secretary for Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Director of Communication for the Congressional Black Caucus, and Senior Advisor to the 2024 Democratic National Convention Host Committee. Her diverse professional experience positions her to lead the BLC's mission of supporting and developing Black business professionals.
The organization, co-founded in 2010 by Frank Clark and James Reynolds, represents more than 120 senior leaders from over 100 companies, including 65 CEOs of African American businesses. Its core objectives include growing the scale and capacity of African American businesses, advancing professional careers, and developing future leadership talent.
Barrett's appointment comes at a critical time for minority business development. Her strategic vision emphasizes transforming inclusion from a theoretical concept to a practical business strategy. "I have seen firsthand the power of Black enterprise," Barrett stated, highlighting her commitment to the organization's foundational goals.
