Los Defensores, the pioneering nationwide brand dedicated to connecting the Latino community with qualified legal services, marked its 40th anniversary with a star-studded gala on August 15, 2024, at the Petersen Automotive Museum. The event was attended by nearly 300 guests and featured a special tribute to MLB Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrín, the iconic Spanish-language voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers, along with his son Jorge Jarrin. Both Jarríns serve as official spokesmen for the brand.
During the event, the Jaime and Blanca Jarrin Foundation successfully raised over $9,000 for its scholarship program aimed at supporting underprivileged students pursuing degrees in law, communications, or journalism. Los Defensores matched this contribution, bringing the total raised to $18,000. This scholarship effort underscores the organization's commitment to education and empowerment within the Latino community.
In addition to the fundraising success, Los Defensores launched a new community initiative called 'Siempre Contigo' (Always On Your Side). This program aims to enhance the company’s ongoing community empowerment and social responsibility efforts through year-round outreach, education, and expanded philanthropic activities. By introducing 'Siempre Contigo,' Los Defensores intends to make a lasting impact on local communities, further solidifying its role as a community pillar.
The evening was graced by an array of distinguished guests, including civil rights activist Dolores Huerta, who co-founded the United Farm Workers Union with Cesar Chavez, and retired California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno. Other notable attendees included radio and TV personality Gisselle Bravo, who hosted the event; producer Said Garcia; motivational speaker and author Hazel Ortega; Liliana Perez, senior director of cultural affairs for the Los Angeles Chargers; and representatives from LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn, California State Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi, and LA City Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky, who presented Certificates of Recognition.
Jaime Jarrín was honored for his exceptional 39-year tenure as the longest-running spokesperson for Los Defensores in the national Hispanic media market. Since 1985, Jaime and his son Jorge Jarrín have been beloved figures in the Latino community through their legendary Spanish-language television ads for Los Defensores. Their contributions have cemented their place in the community's history and pop culture.
