MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the City of Moose Jaw to jointly explore strategic opportunities related to natural hydrogen commercialization within the Regina-Moose Jaw Industrial Corridor. The partnership supports advancement of the company’s Lawson Natural Hydrogen project toward commercial validation and aligns regional infrastructure, industrial development, policy and economic initiatives.
The collaboration is intended to position Saskatchewan as a potential hub for domestically sourced clean energy innovation and long-term economic growth. The MOU marks a significant step for MAX Power as it works to develop Canada’s first-ever subsurface natural hydrogen system, which was confirmed through deep drilling at the Lawson Discovery near Central Butte, Saskatchewan. Data from the discovery has been validated by three independent labs.
MAX Power has built dominant district-scale land positions across Saskatchewan with approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of natural hydrogen. The company also holds a portfolio of properties in the United States and Canada focused on critical minerals, highlighted by a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona.
The implications of this announcement are substantial for the clean energy sector and the province of Saskatchewan. Natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, is a naturally occurring resource that could provide a low-carbon alternative to traditional hydrogen production methods. By securing a partnership with Moose Jaw, MAX Power is aligning with municipal infrastructure and economic development plans, potentially accelerating the path to commercialization. This could attract further investment and industrial activity to the region, creating jobs and positioning Saskatchewan as a leader in the emerging natural hydrogen industry.
For the broader industry, this MOU demonstrates a growing recognition of natural hydrogen's potential as a viable energy source. It also highlights the importance of collaboration between private companies and public entities to develop the necessary infrastructure and regulatory frameworks. The Regina-Moose Jaw Industrial Corridor is strategically located, providing access to transportation networks and existing industrial facilities that could support hydrogen production and distribution.
MAX Power is committed to responsible exploration and development practices that prioritize environmental stewardship, meaningful community engagement, and strong corporate governance. The company’s focus on decarbonization aligns with global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to cleaner energy sources.
