The company's decision to accept cryptocurrency payments is aimed at broadening access to its lineup of U.S. safety- and emissions-certified EVs. This lineup includes the Mullen ONE van, Mullen THREE truck, and the Bollinger B4 chassis cab, which boasts a 185-mile range and a 7,325-pound payload capacity. Mullen's move reflects the growing intersection between the automotive industry and the digital currency space, offering customers more flexibility in how they purchase vehicles.
Mullen Automotive has been making significant strides in the EV market, with commercial vehicle production commencing in August 2023 at its Tunica, Mississippi plant. The company has also received IRS approval for federal EV tax credits, offering eligible customers up to $7,500 per vehicle. Additionally, the Mullen THREE, a Class 3 EV cab chassis truck, has been certified by the California Air Resource Board (CARB) and the EPA, making it available for sale across the U.S. with potential cash vouchers up to $45,000 at the time of purchase.
The expansion of Mullen's commercial dealer network to seven dealers, including the recent addition of Papé Kenworth, further underscores the company's commitment to enhancing its sales and service coverage across key markets in the U.S. This, combined with the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) status approval for its Tunica manufacturing center, which offers benefits such as duty deferment and elimination on exported vehicles, highlights Mullen's strategic efforts to strengthen its position in the commercial EV sector.
