Two innovative literacy organizations have joined forces to address reading challenges faced by adolescents who struggle with grade-level texts. Storyshares, a mission-driven publisher, and Noah Text®, a specialized text formatting company, have collaborated to produce 36 books featuring an evidence-based text display method designed to enhance reading comprehension and fluency.
The partnership leverages Noah Text's patented text formatting technology, which visually scaffolds word structures to help readers more easily decode complex and multisyllabic words. By making text more accessible, the collaboration aims to support striving readers, students with dyslexia, and multilingual learners in developing stronger reading skills.
Noah Text's approach is grounded in reading science and recommended by structured literacy specialists. The innovative formatting method simulates writing systems like Finland's, where predictable word patterns make reading acquisition more intuitive. This approach not only improves reading accuracy but also frees cognitive resources that can be redirected toward comprehension.
The converted book collection will be distributed through multiple channels, including Noah Text's retail bookstore, Ingram's wholesale network, and direct sales to K-12 school districts. This wide distribution strategy ensures that educators and students have multiple avenues to access these specialized reading materials.
Beyond book production, Noah Text offers additional accessibility tools, including a free Chrome extension that converts web pages into their specialized text format. The company has also developed software in partnership with educational institutions to improve literacy in secondary schools and correctional facilities.
For students with specific learning needs, Noah Text can be incorporated into Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans, providing formal recognition of its potential to support diverse learning requirements. This integration represents a significant step toward more inclusive educational resources.
The collaboration between Storyshares and Noah Text represents an important advancement in addressing literacy challenges. By creating culturally inclusive, diverse, and accessible reading materials, the partnership seeks to empower struggling readers and support their journey toward becoming confident, lifelong readers.
