The Outstanding Photo Award, established in 2014 alongside the Outstanding Maternity Award, has announced the results of its 41st season, featuring winners from 14 countries. This milestone underscores the award's role as a global benchmark in family and maternity photography, a niche it pioneered with its focus on visual storytelling.
Photography has the power to evoke emotion, but international recognition amplifies its impact. For photographers, winning an award provides renewed enthusiasm and validation of their artistic direction. For clients, the award seal serves as a mark of trust and credibility, helping them identify excellence in a crowded field. As the award's organizers note, the recognition goes beyond personal achievement, enhancing a photographer's portfolio and marketability.
The 41st season brought together professionals from Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Germany, Latvia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Turkey, the United States, and Uruguay. This diversity highlights the award's ability to connect different worldviews and cultures through the universal language of photography. The winning images celebrate the talent and dedication of artists who transform everyday moments into lasting works of art.
The selection process was overseen by two distinguished judges. Yvonne C. Krystovsky, an internationally acclaimed photographer based near Stuttgart, Germany, specializes in maternity, newborn, family, and fine art portraiture. With a background in interior design and architecture, she brings a minimalist and emotionally resonant aesthetic to her work. Her photographs have been featured in outlets such as The Times and My Modern Met, and she has won top honors at the Black & White Minimalist Photography Prize. As a co-founder of the Luminar Elite Akademie and the Luminar Award, she evaluates submissions based on originality, visual composition, technical excellence, and the ability to evoke genuine connection.
The second judge, Wellington Fugisse from Brazil, brings over 15 years of experience and a portfolio of more than a thousand events. Known for his sensitivity and creativity, he covers weddings, family sessions, and maternity shoots, always aiming to capture real emotions. Beyond his fieldwork, Fugisse mentors emerging talents through workshops and lectures, and serves as an ambassador for major industry brands. His judging criteria reflect his commitment to authenticity and technical skill.
The Outstanding Maternity Award and Outstanding Photo Award remain dedicated to spotlighting life's most beautiful narratives and fostering artistic excellence.
