Peru has been chosen to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in November 2024, marking the third time the country will serve as the venue for this significant international event. Infrastructure and Economic Diversification
The new Multipurpose Port of Chancay is set to play a pivotal role in transforming Peru into a regional trade hub. This development will enhance trade exchanges with Pacific coast countries and strengthen connectivity with major Asian economies. Additionally, the new international airport in the capital, billed as the largest and most modern in South America, will position Peru as a crucial global commercial center.

Cities such as Lima, Cusco, Arequipa, Trujillo, and Pucallpa are set to host over 160 meetings during APEC 2024. In 2023, APEC accounted for 67% of Peru's foreign trade, with exports valued at USD 44.089 billion. Non-mineral energy exports alone exceeded USD 11.030 billion. Additionally, tourists from this region represented over 50% of arrivals to Peru in 2023, with more than 1.2 million visitors, mainly from Chile and the United States.
