Ryvid Unveils Power Controller Upgrade for Enhanced Electric Motorcycle Performance

Ryvid, a California-based electric motorcycle manufacturer, is introducing a Power Controller Upgrade developed by Accelerated Systems Inc. (ASI) for its Anthem and Outset models. This upgrade allows riders to significantly enhance their motorcycles' performance, providing faster acceleration and increased torque without affecting battery range.

According to tests conducted by Ryvid engineers, the ASI Controller results in a dramatic boost in power and torque. The peak torque at the wheel increases from 250 ft-lb with the stock controller to 334 ft-lb, while peak horsepower jumps from 20hp to 27hp. This upgrade not only enhances the riding experience but also makes the motorcycles more capable on highways due to improved acceleration and torque.

The Power Controller Upgrade is recommended for experienced riders due to the substantial performance increase. However, both the Anthem and Outset models retain their selectable riding modes. Riders can choose between Sport and Eco modes, with Sport mode offering full performance of the 72V air-cooled, brushless DC motor and a 4.3kWh battery, while Eco mode provides a softer power delivery and regenerative braking.

The upgrade can be fitted to any new Anthem or Outset ordered directly from Ryvid's website. For a limited time, orders for the Outset placed before July 31, 2024, will include the ASI Controller at no additional cost. Current Anthem owners can purchase the controller for $800 via the Ryvid online shop. Installation can be done as a DIY project or by requesting a Ryvid technician's assistance for a service fee.

Ryvid emphasizes that DIY installation requires a certain level of expertise, as it involves installing a secondary wiring harness. A detailed installation video is available on Ryvid's website to guide owners through the process, which is estimated to take approximately three hours.

Early reviews from riders and media who have tested the Anthem with the ASI Controller have been overwhelmingly positive, praising the enhanced performance and overall riding experience. The Ryvid Anthem is currently available for $6,495, while the new Outset is priced at $5,995, with deliveries starting in the summer of 2024.

The Anthem and Outset share several features, including a rigid steel backbone frame, an instrument display, a removable 4.3kWh battery with an integrated charger, a 72V air-cooled brushless DC motor, and a sealed belt drive. Both models can reach speeds of over 75mph and offer a range of up to 75 miles, making them suitable for various riding conditions.

Notably, both models come with Ryvid Reverse Drive, which allows riders to move the motorcycle backward at walking speed with the push of a button, useful for tight parking spots or inclined surfaces. The Anthem's adjustable seat height and the Outset's compliant suspension and narrow cushion ensure they can accommodate a wide range of riders comfortably.

Ryvid continues to innovate in the electric light vehicle market, aiming to make urban commuting more sustainable and enjoyable. The company's products are designed and assembled in California, reflecting its commitment to quality and performance.
