Licensed barber Seven Nelson has announced the opening of SevensCutAbove at the Salon and Spa Galleria Fort Worth Highway in Weatherford, Texas. Nelson, a graduate of Weatherford College's Barber Program, brings two years of industry experience and a personal passion for barbering, having grown up watching his mother work as a hairstylist. His new shop aims to provide sharp, detailed cuts in a relaxed environment.
“I have a lot of passion for what I'm doing,” Nelson said. “I take my time with each client, to make certain that I execute the image they had in mind, along with providing laidback, chill vibes. It's important to me that every client leaves feeling confident again.”
SevensCutAbove offers a range of services including detailed fades, low drops and tapers, hot-lather shaves, and beard shape-ups. Notably, Nelson specializes in sensory-safe cuts, designed for individuals with sensory issues due to special needs or haircut trauma. These cuts incorporate a soothing environment with softer lighting, quieter spaces, and flexible pacing. If hair clippers cause distress, Nelson uses scissors instead.
“As a sensory-safe barber, I've learned how to work with kids on the spectrum,” Nelson said. “My goal is to create trust, not trauma.” This approach is particularly important for families who have struggled to find accommodating barbers for children with autism or other sensory sensitivities.
SevensCutAbove is accepting new clients by appointment only. Clients can schedule through Nelson's booking site. To celebrate the grand opening, new clients receive a five-dollar discount on the third haircut and a ten-dollar discount on the sixth cut.
The salon is located at the Salon and Spa Galleria Fort Worth Highway, easily accessible from major roadways serving Weatherford, Hudson Oaks, Willow Park, Brock, Aledo, Walsh Ranch, and Mineral Wells. The facility offers free parking and is handicap accessible with wide hallways.
This opening highlights a growing trend in the barbering industry toward inclusive services that cater to clients with diverse needs. By prioritizing sensory comfort, Nelson addresses a gap in the market for individuals who may avoid traditional barbershops due to anxiety or sensory overload. The move could inspire other barbers to adopt similar practices, making haircuts more accessible for all.
For independent beauty professionals, Salon and Spa Galleria provides suite rentals. Those interested in leasing benefits can visit the salon chain's website.
