Chairman Lee's visit to Cheongju, a city with a population of 850,000, saw nearly one-tenth of its residents congregate at the Matthias Tribe Cheongju Church, a branch of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus. The occasion was marked by the participation of about 100 pastors from established Churches, highlighting the Church's expanding reach and significance.
This year holds special importance for the Cheongju Church as it marks its 30th anniversary. The event saw believers lining up from early morning along a 4 km stretch to welcome Chairman Lee. He expressed his gratitude for the revealed words of the Book of Revelation, which he described as life-giving and essential for a faith that aligns 100% with God's words.
Chairman Lee emphasized the importance of humility and the need to help others understand the prophecy of the Book of Revelation. Since the founding of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, he has focused on delivering the revealed word and advocating for a Bible-centered faith. His extensive travels, covering more than 40 domestic and international churches this year alone, aim to quench the spiritual thirst among believers.
A survey conducted by the Pastoral Data Research Institute last September revealed that 65% of domestic Protestant Church attendees feel spiritually thirsty, and 55% expressed a desire for systematic Bible education from pastors. This data supports the growing interest in Shincheonji Church of Jesus, particularly among those seeking deeper biblical understanding.
The event in Cheongju also highlighted a broader trend: the de-religionisation of young people in their 20s and 30s, a significant concern within the Protestant community. In contrast, Shincheonji Church of Jesus has seen a rise in young believers, with over 100,000 members completing an eight-month regular course annually. The Church's systematic curriculum and inclusive approach to education, regardless of gender, age, or religious background, are key factors in this growth.
An official from the Church noted that the core message of Chairman Lee—that the prophecies of the Book of Revelation have come true and manifested in physical reality—resonates with many people. This message, coupled with the Church's robust educational programs, continues to attract a diverse and growing congregation.
