Skyharbour Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: SYH) (OTCQX: SYHBF) (Frankfurt: SC1P) has entered into a definitive option agreement with Purecore Metals (CSE: PURE), enabling Purecore to earn up to a 100% interest in the Yurchison uranium property located in northern Saskatchewan. Under the agreement, Purecore can earn an initial 70% interest by providing Skyharbour with C$350,000 in cash, C$700,000 in shares, and incurring C$3.5 million in exploration expenditures over three years. Subsequently, Purecore can acquire the remaining 30% interest for an additional C$3 million in cash and C$3 million in shares, with Skyharbour retaining a 2% net smelter return royalty.
The Yurchison property consists of 22 claims covering approximately 35,029 hectares, situated about 75 kilometers south of Cameco's Rabbit Lake operation, with Highway 905 crossing the property. Historical samples from the area have returned uranium values ranging from 0.09% to 0.30% U3O8 and molybdenum values from 2,500 to 6,400 ppm. Modern airborne electromagnetic, magnetic, and radiometric surveys were completed in 2022 and 2023, providing a solid foundation for future exploration.
This agreement is a strategic move for Skyharbour as it advances its goal of generating value from its extensive Athabasca Basin portfolio through partnerships, while maintaining its exploration focus on its core Moore and Russell assets. Skyharbour holds an extensive portfolio of uranium exploration projects in Canada's Athabasca Basin, with interests in forty-four projects covering over 682,100 hectares (1.69 million acres). The company owns a 100% interest in the Moore Uranium Project, an advanced-stage exploration property with high-grade uranium mineralization at the Maverick Zone, highlighted by drill results of up to 6.0% U3O8 over 5.9 meters, including 20.8% U3O8 over 1.5 meters at a vertical depth of 265 meters.
The significance of this agreement lies in the growing demand for uranium as the world seeks clean energy sources. By partnering with Purecore, Skyharbour can leverage external capital to explore the Yurchison property while reducing its own financial risk. This model allows Skyharbour to maintain a diverse portfolio and focus on its most promising projects, potentially increasing shareholder value through new discoveries and strategic partnerships.
Skyharbour has already established joint ventures with industry leaders such as Denison Mines and Orano Canada Inc., and has signed earn-in option agreements with several other partners, including Nexus Uranium Corp., North Shore Uranium, UraEx Resources, Future Fuels, Mustang Energy, and Terra Clean Energy. In aggregate, these agreements could bring in over $79 million in partner-funded exploration expenditures and over $52 million in cash and share payments to Skyharbour, assuming all partners complete their earn-ins.
The Yurchison option agreement with Purecore is a testament to Skyharbour's commitment to advancing its projects through collaborative efforts. As the uranium market continues to strengthen, this partnership positions both companies to capitalize on the growing demand for nuclear fuel. The exploration work planned on the Yurchison property could uncover significant uranium resources, contributing to the global supply and supporting the transition to low-carbon energy.
