Trollinger Law LLC has announced the recipients of its 2025 Hometown Heroes Awards, highlighting the extraordinary contributions of local first responders to the Southern Maryland community. This annual initiative underscores the firm's commitment to acknowledging those who go above and beyond in their service to public safety and community welfare.
Retired Sgt. Gus Proctor, Lt. Everett West, and Carl Schinner have been selected for their unwavering dedication and impactful community involvement. Proctor, a retired sergeant with the Charles County Sheriff's Department, has significantly contributed to the Special Olympics Maryland and various community organizations. West, a lieutenant with the Maryland State Police, has initiated programs like the Kids and Cruisers Car Show and Shop With a Cop, fostering stronger ties between law enforcement and the community. Schinner, with nearly four decades in law enforcement, has been instrumental in advancing community safety initiatives and inclusive policing practices.
The recognition of these individuals not only celebrates their personal achievements but also shines a light on the critical role first responders play in enhancing community well-being and safety. Their efforts exemplify the profound impact that dedicated professionals can have beyond their official duties, inspiring others to contribute positively to their communities.
The awards ceremony will take place during halftime at DC United games this summer and on September 13 at Trollinger Law's First Responders Night at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs game. This event serves as a reminder of the importance of recognizing and appreciating the hard work and dedication of first responders who ensure the safety and security of our communities every day.
