UGI Utilities has announced the start of system upgrades in Bethlehem, scheduled to begin on July 1, as part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring safe and reliable service for its customers. This initiative not only aims to enhance the infrastructure but also presents an opportunity for homes and businesses along the project route to consider converting to natural gas.
The upgrade involves the replacement of a gas main, which will affect East North Street between Pine Street and Center Street, and Center Street between East North Street and East Raspberry Street. Construction is set to take place from 7am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, with parking restrictions in effect during these hours. Residents and businesses should anticipate some interruptions to natural gas service, as UGI will need access to properties to inspect and relight equipment.
While the underground work is expected to be completed by the end of July, factors such as weather and working conditions could potentially delay the timeline. Final paving and restoration efforts will follow the completion of the underground upgrades.
For those interested in converting to natural gas, UGI has provided contact information for further inquiries. This upgrade underscores UGI Utilities' dedication to modernizing its infrastructure to meet the needs of its over 760,000 customers, ensuring the delivery of efficient and reliable energy services.
