Wearable Devices and Encord Team Up to Advance Physical AI Training Data

Wearable Devices Ltd. (NASDAQ: WLDS), a pioneer in AI-powered neural input technology, has entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with Cord Technologies Inc. (“Encord”), a provider of Physical AI data infrastructure and visual data capabilities. The partnership, led by Wearable Devices’ Physical AI business unit Kavana, aims to create multimodal training datasets that integrate neuromuscular signals from hand and finger movements with visual information, according to a press release from TechMediaWire.

The collaboration seeks to address a key limitation in Physical AI training: camera-based data can be unreliable when hands, fingers, or objects are partially obscured. Wearable Devices’ Mudra Pro and Mudra Ultimate devices capture surface electromyography (sEMG) signals, which can complement visual data in such scenarios. By combining these sensing modalities, the companies intend to produce richer datasets that could enhance the performance of robotics and humanoid systems.

Under the agreement, Encord will purchase Wearable Devices’ wrist-worn devices and use the collected data to develop datasets for third-party Physical AI and robotics developers, subject to licensing and commercialization terms. Wearable Devices will generate revenue from device sales and receive usage-based compensation for qualifying data collection activities. The companies are already engaged in data collection, testing, and integration, and plan to explore applications in humanoid robotics and advanced robotic manipulation. Future commercial activity will depend on customer demand and the implementation of the collaboration.

For investors, the collaboration represents a potential new revenue stream for Wearable Devices, which is traded on the Nasdaq Capital Market under the symbols “WLDS” and “WLDSW.” The company’s ordinary shares and warrants are listed there. The latest news and updates relating to WLDS are available in the company’s newsroom at https://ibn.fm/WLDS. A full press release can be viewed at https://ibn.fm/6wvhq.

The importance of this collaboration extends beyond Wearable Devices. Physical AI—artificial intelligence systems that interact with the physical world—is a rapidly growing field with applications in manufacturing, healthcare, and service industries. High-quality training data is essential for developing robust and safe robotic systems. By providing a novel data source through sEMG signals, Wearable Devices and Encord could help accelerate the development of more capable and adaptable robots.

Wearable Devices is known for its consumer products, the Mudra Band and Mudra Link, which enable touch-free, intuitive control of digital devices using gestures across multiple operating systems. The company operates through a dual-channel model of direct-to-consumer sales and enterprise licensing and collaborations. Its newly launched ai6 Labs ecosystem integrates research, products, and AI breakthroughs. More information about Wearable Devices is available through Wearable Devices (NASDAQ: WLDS).
