The Woodbridge Pacific Group (WPG) has recently been recognized for its outstanding architectural design with an Award of Merit in the 2025 Gold Nugget Awards. The award was bestowed upon Westwind II, one of the 12 designs in the debut collections of Cotino, Disney's new Storyliving community located in Rancho Mirage. This recognition underscores the design's excellence in detached homes over 4,000 square feet, showcasing WPG's commitment to creating spaces that blend luxurious living with innovative design.
The Gold Nugget Awards are among the most esteemed competitions in the homebuilding industry, celebrating those who contribute to the enhancement of communities through exceptional design, planning, and development. With 675 entries from across the U.S. and internationally, the award highlights Westwind II's standout features, including its inviting, versatile architecture and seamless indoor/outdoor living spaces. Lisa Parrish, Gold Nugget Awards Judging Chair, praised the design for its polished architecture and attention to detail, elements that resonate with affluent families and empty nesters looking for primary or seasonal homes.
Westwind II's design, created by Hannouche Architects with interiors by Chameleon Design, responds elegantly to its corner lot location. It features a curved courtyard, recessed entry, and a C-shape footprint that artfully combines distinctive living and hospitality spaces. The central courtyard, complete with a pool and spa, along with glass sliders, ensures a fluid transition between indoor and outdoor areas. Additional highlights include a secluded primary suite with direct access to the pool court and a private side yard entrance to an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) over the three-car garage.
This award not only celebrates WPG's architectural achievement but also signifies the growing importance of design that caters to the evolving preferences of homeowners, emphasizing luxury, functionality, and a connection to the outdoors. The recognition of Westwind II at Cotino reflects the broader trends in the homebuilding industry towards creating communities that offer more than just homes, but lifestyles. As Todd Cunningham, WPG President, stated, the design epitomizes the company's goals for its buyers—homes that combine persuasive, versatile design with desirable lifestyle locations. This accolade is a testament to WPG's dedication to excellence and innovation in homebuilding, setting a benchmark for future developments in the industry.
