The Supervisory Board of ams-OSRAM AG has approved a contract extension for Chief Executive Officer Aldo Kamper, now set to run through September 30, 2031, according to a press release dated July 30, 2026. Kamper, who has led the company since April 2023, was originally scheduled to serve until March 31, 2027. The new term begins October 1, 2026.
Dr. Margarete Haase, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, stated: “As CEO, Aldo Kamper has strategically realigned ams OSRAM and laid the foundation for sustainable growth. Under his leadership, key milestones have been achieved – from the successful implementation of the ‘Re-establish the Base’ efficiency program to the strengthening of the financial base and the clear positioning of ams OSRAM in the attractive digital photonics field.”
Kamper’s tenure has been marked by decisive actions to streamline operations and reduce debt. Shortly after taking office, he launched the “Re-establish the Base” efficiency program aimed at focusing the portfolio and improving profitability. Under his guidance, the group’s structures were simplified, business units were given clearer responsibilities, and significant measures were taken to strengthen the financial base, including a substantial reduction in debt. The sale of the non-optical sensing business was completed on July 1, 2026, further solidifying the company’s financial position for growth in its core optical business and emerging digital photonics areas such as augmented reality and data communication.
Kamper brings deep industry experience to the role. He began his career at OSRAM in Regensburg in 1994 and held various leadership positions in Europe and the United States in LED and specialty lighting. In 2010, he became CEO of the Opto Semiconductors business unit, where he pioneered microLED technology, dynamic front-end lighting, and roadmaps for high-performance LEDs, while also expanding the global manufacturing footprint. In 2018, he joined Leoni AG, a global provider for energy and data management in the automotive industry, as CEO.
Kamper holds a degree in business administration from Maastricht University and an MBA from Stanford University. He is a Dutch citizen.

It holds over 12,000 patents and focuses on digital photonics, serving markets such as automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer electronics.
