Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. (TSXV: YFI) (OTC: KPIFF), a pioneer in AI-powered Wi-Fi Spectrum Slicing silicon solutions, announced today that Silicon Catalyst Angels I, LLC (SCA) has made a direct strategic investment in the company as part of its recently completed private placement. The investment marks the second strategically aligned semiconductor investor to back the company’s Spectrum Slicing roadmap as it moves toward prototype validation and commercial engagements.
The private placement, which closed in two tranches, raised aggregate gross proceeds of approximately $717,333. The second tranche, which included SCA’s investment, consisted of 4,799,666 units at a price of $0.06 per unit, generating gross proceeds of $287,980. Chairman Brian Imrie also participated, investing an additional $96,000, demonstrating insider confidence in the company’s technology and trajectory.
This investment is significant for Edgewater as it accelerates development of its patented Wi-Fi Spectrum Slicing technology, which enables multiple concurrent channels in a single band. The technology promises a 10x improvement in performance and up to 50% lower latency, even for legacy devices, addressing the growing congestion in Wi-Fi networks as devices move to Wi-Fi 7 and beyond. By intelligently managing spectrum allocation and autonomously reconfiguring channels, Edgewater aims to deliver high-performance connectivity in dense environments, reducing churn and improving efficiency for service providers.
SCA, established in 2019 to provide seed and Series A funding to Silicon Catalyst portfolio companies, brings more than just capital. Its members are experienced semiconductor executives, technologists, and investors with deep industry relationships. This strategic alignment provides Edgewater with access to expertise in silicon execution, strategic partnerships, and future capital formation. The investment builds on Edgewater’s relationship with Silicon Catalyst, which began in November 2024 when the company was selected as a Silicon Catalyst Portfolio Company. Since then, Edgewater has gained access to over 500 industry experts and several million dollars in in-kind design, fabrication, and commercialization resources.

The funding will be used for semiconductor design, engineering, and product development related to its Spectrum Slicing prototype. The company plans to stage an initial product release in the first half of 2027, with upcoming milestones including prototype validation and partner demonstrations for high-reliability Wi-Fi and emerging high-performance applications. These demonstrations are critical for proving the technology’s real-world impact and driving commercial adoption.
The investment also underscores the growing interest in advanced Wi-Fi solutions as the industry moves toward Wi-Fi 7 and beyond. With devices accessing very wide channels in congested or partially occupied spectrum, Edgewater’s approach is timely. The company holds 26 granted patents and has three AI-related patents pending, positioning it as a leader in intelligent wireless technology.

The securities issued in the second tranche are subject to a statutory hold period until January 9, 2027, and the closing remains subject to final acceptance by the TSX Venture Exchange. This strategic investment from Silicon Catalyst Angels not only provides necessary capital but also validates Edgewater’s technological approach, potentially accelerating its path to commercialization and reshaping the future of Wi-Fi connectivity.
