The Family Justice Center of Washington County (FJCWC) has announced its collaboration with Comcast Business to enhance bandwidth and connectivity for its operations. Based in Washington County, Oregon, FJCWC is dedicated to breaking the cycle of domestic and family violence by providing a comprehensive range of services to residents. This partnership is crucial in ensuring that the organization can meet its growing technological needs effectively and efficiently.
FJCWC offers a centralized location where survivors of violence can access a variety of essential services, such as advocacy, counseling, restraining orders, safety planning, legal aid, and food assistance. Since its inception in 2018, the center has been a cornerstone of support for the community, making it easier for survivors to get the help they need without the added burden of navigating multiple locations. The integration of advanced technology solutions from Comcast Business will further strengthen FJCWC's ability to serve its clients.
Rachel Schutz, Executive Director of FJCWC, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “Comcast understands what it is that we're trying to do and the importance of what we’re trying to do, and has really stepped in and stepped up to support our organization. They've stepped in to provide support in multiple different ways so that our service is reliable, and so that we can partner in the longer term.”
The collaboration includes the deployment of Comcast Business Ethernet Dedicated Internet (EDI) and Comcast Business Voice Mobility Solutions. These services are designed to ensure high-speed, reliable connectivity, which is vital for the organization’s operations, including its virtual court system and legal assistance programs. The ability to handle high bandwidth needs is particularly important for virtual court sessions, allowing survivors to avoid direct contact with their abusers while still participating in legal proceedings.
Comcast Business Voice Mobility Solutions also play a critical role in streamlining communication between FJCWC, survivors, staff, and partner organizations. The system's call routing feature is especially beneficial, as it supports the organization’s 24/7 crisis lines and acts as a call tree for partner agencies, ensuring that calls are directed appropriately even when staff members are unavailable.
Rob Brenner, Vice President of Comcast Business for Comcast’s Pacific Northwest Region, highlighted the broader impact of this technological support, noting, “Technology is essential to the day-to-day operations of organizations like FJCWC that support victims of abuse. It can help these organizations provide their clients with a sense of comfort and security that they may have never felt in the past. Comcast Business has established itself as a company that deeply cares about both the quality of solutions it provides as well as how those solutions can best help the often-critical missions of its customers. We’re proud to be supporting the FJCWC with technology solutions that enable their team to help and heal survivors within our community.”
This partnership between FJCWC and Comcast Business underscores the importance of reliable technology in supporting critical social services. By enhancing connectivity and communication capabilities, the collaboration aims to ensure that survivors of domestic and family violence in Washington County receive the comprehensive support they need to rebuild their lives.
