The Richard Harris Law Firm, in partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Office of Community Engagement and the Behind the Blue Foundation, will host the first-ever Pack the Mack Back-to-School Giveaway on July 30 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The event aims to donate 10,000 backpacks to Southern Nevada students, ensuring they start the new school year fully prepared.
This inaugural event brings together public safety partners, educators, community organizations, volunteers, and local businesses united around a common goal: helping students enter the school year with the tools they need. Families attending the event will have access to backpacks, school supplies, sports physicals, dental exams, haircuts, food, entertainment, and a range of community resources designed to support students and their families.
“Education is one of our firm's most important community pillars,” said Richard Harris, founder of Richard Harris Law Firm. “Every child deserves the opportunity to start the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn. Through our partnership with LVMPD's Office of Community Engagement, the Behind the Blue Foundation, and the many organizations supporting Pack the Mack, we are helping invest in the future of Southern Nevada. We are proud to provide 10,000 backpacks and support an event that will make a meaningful difference for thousands of local students and families.”
Richard Harris added, “It's our honor to give back to Nevada kids in a state we love so much. For six consecutive years, we have been committed to helping students start the school year prepared for success, and we are proud that our backpack program has provided more than 75,000 backpacks to children across Nevada.”
Education remains a central focus of the firm's community outreach efforts. Through backpack drives, educational initiatives, charitable giving, and community partnerships, Richard Harris Law Firm continues to direct resources toward programs that benefit Nevada students and families across the state.
The firm, which has grown from a one-man operation into Nevada's largest personal injury law firm over more than 40 years, views community investment as a core responsibility. It supports organizations that align with its mission through financial contributions, leadership, volunteerism, and strategic partnerships. “We Care” is a guiding principle, reflecting the firm's dedication to caring about Nevada families—from representing injured clients to investing in the education and future of Nevada's children.
The Pack the Mack event underscores the broader impact of such initiatives: when students have the necessary supplies, they are more likely to succeed academically, which strengthens the community as a whole. For families, the event reduces the financial burden of back-to-school shopping and provides access to health services and other resources that might otherwise be out of reach. For local businesses and organizations, it offers a chance to give back and foster goodwill.
As Southern Nevada continues to grow, events like Pack the Mack highlight the ongoing need for collaborative efforts between public safety, education, and the private sector to support the region's youth. The success of this inaugural event could set a precedent for future back-to-school drives, potentially expanding the number of students reached and the scope of services provided.
